BIKE HIRE IN DEAL, Kent
Located adjacent to the National Cycle Route 1, Hut 55 offers bike hire on Deal seafront for a few hours, a full day, or longer, so you can explore the beautiful coastal cycle routes around Deal, Sandwich, St Margaret’s Bay and Dover. Our bikes are perfect for families, visitors, and relaxed rides along the coast.

Walk-ins are available, but please note booking is advised for the school and bank holidays to avoid disappointment.

£15 a day or £8 half day
(suitable for 1-5 year olds - trailers can take 2 children, max weight 18kg per child. Max total weight 36kg. Not suitable for children under 12 months)
CHILD SEAT
£5 flat rate (Suitable for 1-5 year olds - max weight 18kg. Not suitable for children under 12 months)
HOURLY BIKE HIRE
(available by walk-in only) £8 adult / £7 junior
Helmets and locks are included in all hires
If bikes are kept after 4pm, the hire rolls into the next day rate
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you provide helmets?
Yes, helmets (adults & children’s) are included in the cycle hire price. You are also welcome to bring your own.
Are locks included?
Yes, every bike comes with a lock.
Can children hire bikes?
Yes, we have junior bikes as well as full-size bikes. Please let us know the age & height of the child at booking - it will help us find the best fit for them. We also offer child seats and trailers for under 5s (height & weight restrictions apply. Please get in touch for more info).
Do we need to book in advance?
Usually you can hire bikes on the day, but during busy summer weekends or bank holidays, bikes will be booked out so it is recommended to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
Can I just hire for an hour?
Of course! But this is available by walk-in only. Feel free to give us a ring in the morning & we can let you know how busy we are.
Do you have e-bikes?
We have previously offered electric bike rental, however this was a scheme ran in conjunction with Deal Council which has now ended. We no longer have electric bikes available.
What about pet trailers?
Our trailers are for children only, sorry puppies.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No, we don’t ask for a deposit. We just need your name, mobile number and booking request.
Can I keep the bike overnight?
Yes, we just ask you keep it somewhere secure. Keeping a bike after 4pm will count as an additional day hire.
Can we book a picnic?
Great idea! Make a day of it and book one of our delicious picnics for your bike adventure to enjoy on the beach. We’ll load it into a cooler backpack for you to enjoy on your travels. Find out more here

Depending on how long you have, popular rides include:
Deal seafront’s flat cycle path from Sandown Castle all the way to the white cliffs at Kingsdown
Walmer Castle and gardens
Along the ancient highway to Sandwich Bay or Sandwich town
One more thing…
Every person hiring a bike must fill out a bike hire waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have one filled out for them by the adult responsible for their party. Waiver forms can be filled out in advance here (doing this in advance saves time on the day!)
